Two-color detectors incorporate a Si photodiode mounted over a PbS detector, PbSe detector or InGaAs PIN photodiode, along the same optical axis. The Si photodiode is specially designed to be transparent to infrared light, this structure delivers broad spectral response. Thermoelectrically cooled types maintain a constant temperature during operation, allowing precision measurement with an improved signal-to-noise ratio. These devices are used in spectrophotometers, pyrometers and flame sensors.
